This past weekend, I took a break from work, and the continuous grind of business and enjoyed life for a change spending time with some close friends on their special day. I chose this this color combination of khakis, a printed dress shirt, [all from Old Navy] and Bass Buchanon Saddle Shoes for a simple yet impressive look.

Interesting thoughts by the man known as 40 oz…

Whether you’re running a business alone or with partners, it’s important to be open and honest with everything you do. If you’re going to be a little late in paying your manufacturer, let them know. If you need an advance on your paycheck because you’ve got some personal stuff to handle, say something to your […]

Brand Spotlight, Curran Swint of Kings Rule Together

Our next installment of the Brand Spotlight series brings to light Curran Swint of Kings Rule Together. Although he is a Philadelphia native, Curran is actually one of the first people I met when I began networking for Karmalifee in DC. It’s not often you meet people or brands that carry this much uplifting and […]

A Bit of a Chat with Erothyme

Bobby West aka Erothyme and I sat down at a little café in downtown Fredericksburg, VA. We had a discussion about many things, dealing with life, of course his music and what he had up his sleeve for this coming year. These are a couple questions that made the cut for his interview. Hope you […]

It starts with a passion for meeting the needs of a community you know and care about. That has to be your true motivation, it can’t just be about money. –Matt Baldwin, Baldwin Denim

There is no job that’s easy or without drama. So if you’re getting into something that is gonna take all your time, energy, commitment and money, you might as well at least be doing something you love. ‘Cause when the shit hits the fan and times get rough and rugged (and they will), it would […]

If you’re thinking about starting your own brand, be ready to die for it. Because THAT is how hard you’ll be working in order to make it successful. This is no walk in the park. If you’re questioning your passion, your commitment or your ability to ‘make it work,’ then do something else. You’ll be […]

So as many of you know, the site has been offline for the past week. Getting it back on the road, was no easy task and I can assure you that will be the first and LAST time the site ever goes offline. I must say it has indeed been a learning experience dealing with […]

Lately I Been Thrifting My Life Away...

So I’ve recently discovered a new pastime. It’s definitely not an unfamiliar concept to those into clothes. One day after work a couple weeks ago, I decided to venture into a local Goodwill store to go “thrifting”. After getting lost for a couple hours, I emerged feeling invigorated and victorious! That could be because I […]

Go DJ! That’s My DJ

This Karmalifeestyle has really gotten me going places and meeting people I never thought I’d get to meet. This week was no different, had a conversation with an ill DJ doing big things in the music business locally. Going by the name DJ Chub. We rapped over the phone for a bit about music, his […]

What Did Thomas Buy at Sketch Lounge?

There were many beautiful creations on display and being developed when I was there but this particular one spoke to me. Full of emotion and desire, I feel like it is representative of me and what I hope to bring to this company Reef and I created. I hope to continue to bring great things […]

The New Young Gunner: Cam Wells

Salute my music lovers. It’s been a while but I’m back again with a real treat for you guys. A few weekends ago, I had the chance to meet up with a young up and comer from the Northern Virginia area by the name of Cam Wells. For those of you that don’t know, this 18 year old […]

The Almighty Sketch Lounge

After the lecture with Mr. Lewin at Howard, we made our way to the Dunes for Sketch Lounge. Sketch Lounge is the brainchild of Nate Lewis and his creative Somaphony team. Somaphony originally began as a clothing line like ourselves but now is creating a name for itself in the DC arts community. It is […]

Lectures with Lewin

Last Wednesday, I attended a lecture at the Howard University School of Law for their annual Fashion Law Week. The featured speaker was Harley Lewin, Esq., General Counsel for Louboutin. In this lecture, he explained the nuances of trademark law and even went to detail about his most recent casework with the Louboutin v. YSL […]
