Mr. Curran Swint, Owner of Kings Rule Together

Our next installment of the Brand Spotlight series brings to light Curran Swint of Kings Rule Together. Although he is a Philadelphia native, Curran is actually one of the first people I met when I began networking for Karmalifee in DC. It’s not often you meet people or brands that carry this much uplifting and with a name like Kings Rule Together, it leaves you no other choice. He is always willing to lend a hand of support, or just carry a conversation, it’s easy to see why his business is doing so well. He is a one-man wrecking crew of sorts, at any given moment, you may see him attending or planning events, speaking at different schools to the youth, traveling or designing, all not easy to manage while simultaneously trying to build a brand. I could elaborate more but then this interview wouldn’t serve it’s purpose…

How would describe the business and the services you provide? Also, where did the name Kings Rule Together come from?

I think the main service that I provide is inspiration and themes that contribute to the self esteem of others. My entire business is focused on unity, peace and style from the outer as well as the inner. Through my vision I am able to inspire people to think highly of themselves by way of art, fashion and community efforts. The name Kings Rule Together stemmed from the fact that my friend referred to me as King as a term of endearment instead of the N word, which is so commonly used amongst the youth. It stuck with me from then on, giving me the esteem to truly respect myself and the people around me. As I went on working with other kings, I realized that by working together we made a more powerful impact, and and that we accomplished a lot more aka Kings Ruling Together.

How and when did you get started? Also, when was that moment that you knew you should turn this love of yours into a business?

I always had a love for fashion and I used to do a lot of the same things that I’m doing currently, but I only documented it on the social networks then. Once the blog came about in November of 2010, it opened up more doors for me and it allowed for people to for people to receive access to my work, vision and style on a larger scale. Honestly, I dont know– the moment that I knew my love would become my business I just knew that I didn’t want to work for anyone else– I had a talent and gift that could help myself and others.

What are some lessons you have learned over the years doing business?

The one lesson that I learned is that your success is what you make it. The main reason I think I’ve been so successful is because I never gave up and I was consistent and persistent. I also learned to never let one great accomplishment slow you hunger for success up meaning don’t get complacent with one accomplishment because there is always more to get done.

What makes your customer experience unique?

The best part about K.R.T. is that you only can say you got the brand from one of two ways, The young King himself or www.kingsruletogether.com. This keeps the brand more personal so when you see it on the streets of your city you know there is some type of connection behind it.

I read somewhere that your father is also well-versed in the fashion world, how do you think he influenced you in what you do and how you carry yourself today?

My father has been in the fashion industry for over 20 yrs. He also had many clothing brands and as I was growing up I was able to witness his many accomplishments and failures. You can ask 1000 people about my father and they all will give you the same reaction which may fall under the lines of him being a “good dude”, humble, stylish, etc. I think that I’m following in his footsteps just by being liked as a person first and then people liking my brand.

What other endeavors are you involved in?

Right now I am just building up my brand from many outlets. I enjoy going to different schools and provide insight on being a young entrepreneur. This shows them that you don’t have to be a product of your environment.

Any upcoming plans that readers should become aware of?

I would say look out for upcoming interviews and more post highlighting some heavy trendsetters in the fashion and arts scene. I plan to have a few release events for new K.R.T. products this summer as well as a basketball game for brands in the city.

So take us into your vision for your business, what can we expect to see in the future from the Kings Rule Together brand?

I plan for Kings Rule Together to be a household name and eventually growing as a company that is involved in many fields from fashion, art, photography, consulting, etc. I also would like to have my own mentor group and a flagship store.
